Faculty Music Director – Theatre UCF

Richard Crawley is Assistant Professor of Musical Theater Voice, as well as the Faculty Music Director for Theatre UCF at the University of Central Florida. Before joining UCF, he was on the faculty of the Department of Drama at Syracuse University, where he honed his pedagogy to serve the needs of the modern musical theatre artist — from golden age musicals and operetta to contemporary musical theater, pop & rock styles. During his time at Syracuse University, he taught private voice, studio classes, music theory, ear training, sight-singing, score analysis & Musical Theater Performance (Acting the Song), and music directed several projects. Richard is committed to cross training all vocalists to prepare them for the professional industry. He has served on the faculties of the Setnor School of Music, Loyola College in Baltimore, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Alaska, and Binghamton University. Richard enjoys teaching master classes for professionals, college level artists and secondary school programs whenever he can.
